First of all, what is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to straighten teeth. The aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth, and they are removable so you can eat and drink whatever you like. Invisalign works by applying gentle pressure to your teeth, which gradually moves them into the correct position. Invisalign can correct a number of malalignment problems, including crooked teeth, overbite, underbite and crowded teeth.

Care Tips

  • Brush your teeth before putting on your aligners, and also after taking them off. If you have food particles and sugar left on your teeth when you wear your aligners, they can cause a buildup of plaque on your teeth. Plaque can destroy tooth enamel and cause cavities and gingivitis. You can prevent cavities, gum disease and tooth discoloration by brushing your teeth before and after wearing your aligners.
  • Try your best only to drink water while you’re wearing your aligners. Your aligners are easily removable. Make sure you pop them out and store them in their case while eating food or drinking anything other than water. Food and sugary beverages can stain your aligners and cause a buildup of plaque on your teeth.
  • Keep your aligners in a case when you’re not wearing them. Aligners look an awful lot like a dog toy to your furry best friend…Keep your aligners in a case when you’re not wearing them so you don’t risk damaging or losing them.
  • If you lose an aligner, or if it becomes damaged, contact your orthodontist right away. Accidents happen! If you lose or damage your aligners, we are here to help. Don’t wait too long before replacing your aligners so that you stay on a consistent treatment schedule.
