Invisalign®
The #1 Invisalign Provider in New York and New Jersey
Traditional braces are no longer the only option for treating misaligned bites and straightening teeth. Clear aligners are the modern alternative to wire braces due to their preciseness, predictability, ease of wear and overall shorter treatment time. As a Diamond Plus Invisalign® Provider, our orthodontists are among the top 1% in the country at treating patients with this technology. At Clemente Orthodontics, we believe that everyone is a candidate for aligners, no matter their age or how complicated their case is.
Why Invisalign®?
At Clemente Orthodontics, we find that this treatment option offers a number of advantages over traditional wire braces. Some of these benefits include:
Who Needs Invisalign®?
At Clemente Orthodontics, we treat children, teens and adults of all ages with clear aligner technology. Patients can begin Invisalign® First treatment around the age of 7 as an alternative to or in addition to traditional Phase 1 appliances. Aligners treat a variety of issues, and some of the most common include misalignment of the bite, crooked teeth, crowding, gaps between teeth and more. Even patients with complex orthodontic issues are candidates for this treatment option at Clemente Orthodontics.
How Long Will My Invisalign® Treatment Take?
Most clear aligner treatment takes between 6 and 18 months. In some cases, treatment can be shorter than that of traditional braces. If your case is more complex, your treatment may take longer to complete than more straightforward cases. Advanced scanning technology and your orthodontist’s ability to map tooth movement make Invisalign® treatment highly predictable and plannable.
What Are Attachments And Do I Need Them?
Attachments are small devices on aligners that help move the teeth in specific ways. Not everyone who wears trays will need attachments. At Clemente Orthodontics, the vast majority of our adult patients will never wear an attachment. Instead, our young patients are more likely to wear SmartForce attachments as part of their Phase 1 treatment.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
At your initial appointment, we’ll talk you through the treatment process, answer any questions that you have and help you decide if the clear aligner system is right for you. To get started, we’ll take a digital impression of your smile using our iTero digital intraoral scanner. Using the scan, we’ll create a picture of what your smile will look like after orthodontic treatment to help you envision your results. Unlike most orthodontists, we do not use Invisalign’s® Clincheck Simulator to predict treatment. Instead, our orthodontists use digital scans, your unique needs and dental history as well as their years of experience to program your tooth movement.
Once your treatment plan is set, you’ll receive your first custom set of trays. At first, your teeth may feel slightly sore and uncomfortable. Discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication, and it should go away after the first day or so. As you adjust to your aligners, you may experience a slight change in your speech. This should go away quickly as you get used to wearing your Invisalign®.
Every two weeks or so, you’ll swap out your current trays with new ones. Each tray slowly and precisely moves your teeth to help you achieve your desired smile. You may experience some soreness after placing each new set of trays, but it should not be painful. The ability to advance your treatment at home eliminates the need for frequent office visits. You’ll still need to visit the office every 12 weeks to make sure that your teeth are moving according to plan. Find out more about our team here.
